960 Main, The New G. Fox
THE BUILDING

About the Building

960 MAIN, formerly the flagship store of the G. Fox Department Stores, is a landmark Art Deco style building located in the historic district of downtown Hartford.

This eleven-story building, consisting of approximately 850,000 square feet with entrances on Main, Talcott, and Market Streets, is easily accessible from both Interstate 84 and 91.

In July 2000, 40% of the building was sold to the State of Connecticut for the future home of the Capital Community College. The three street levels have been designed for retail, restaurant, and entertainment use and the upper floors are home to a new state-of-the-art office tower.

The original 1917 architecture and the intricate Art Deco features of the late 1930s have been brilliantly restored in the retail portion of the building, bringing 960 MAIN back to a renewed splendor.
